I'm guessing Oregon DB had a knife strapped to his radiator and the hammer just happened to be there.
Fun fact. If you damage your car hitting a living creature, the repairs would be under your comprehensive coverage and not a chargeable loss. But striking something/someone who is already dead would have to go under the collision coverage and thus would be a chargeable loss.
