The personal data thing is a laughable complaint as a blocker to actually digging at government spend.
For the sake of argument I’ll pretend that the security stuff actually matters. I’d rather have my ID stolen and get billions and trillions of waste and fraud eliminated. At least with ID theft I have individual actions to correct. With waste and fraud in government, that is all socialized and there is no direct action an individual can take to fix. The fraud and waste get anniversaried forever in budgets. DOGE can fix $500b a year or whatever, but the real number they should be chasing is the cumulative effect which will have people looking for blood.
