Lanning leveraged the buzz in a big way. Grubb made us squirm last year. Any good coach probably should do this waltz, both personally and for the program, if their intent is to stay.
I expect the same from DeBo with less theatrics, talking on Seattle sports radio and calmly explaining how Seattle is home as well as making clear his intent to shit on the Big 10 and the world for the rest of time. That's what I would do, but I'm biased.

I’ll modify this conspiracy theory. Saban waited until after the Natty to see who won and what the perception around the game was. If UW looked bad, out of respect for Don James, Saban announced quickly so people would shift their focus away from UW looking bad.
It makes perfect sense when you think about it. Pete Carroll and Bill Bellicheck probably talked this over with Saban and decided it was a good move for them as well.
