Dykes is a complaining bitch. I can't fathom why Cal bended over for him last year and gave him an extension for his shitty record. Stupid AD...probably will cost Cal an extra $10 million+ now for giving him that extension. I doubt he gets a power 5 job again with his bitching about that raise and blatantly seeking a new job elsewhere during his bitching.

Rumor has it that Dykes was letting people know that he'd be interested in an OC job in the SEC, and the AD finally had enough of him shopping himself around.

Words cannot express how fuckingly happy I am about this. Hoping I get even happier after 4:30, when the AD has a press conference.

I've known Sonny for a long time. He is a great guy and a really great offensive mind, but he isn't a head coach.

I thought the offense he ran at Arizona with a power/spread mix was brilliant. He had shit for talent and still put points on the board.

Ain't that the truth. Lousy assistant hires, ran off half of Tedford's players, game management sucks. His players seem to like him. He's credited with getting the football team's APR up, but that's at least as much a matter of institutional investment as it is of coaching leadership or whatever (in later years Tedford asked for more academic assistance and was denied).

I guess I would agree with you that he's best suited to be OC somewhere. Kinda like Gilby. Let him do what he does best, and not try to promote him to a position where just can't do the fucking job.

Might be an okay hire. That's a serious rebuild though. The defense will still suck and they don't have the right players to run the wishbone.

That. Niumatalolo is a great coach, and it would suck to deal with flexbone once per year. But they'd have to endure a couple years of real dumpster fires before the personnel and culture got in place.
