Are a mess.
Oregon recovered a fucking onside kick on its first possession, yet failed to have an adequate scheme to move the ball at least 10 yards. WTF? Why onside kick without a plan to utilize?
Against Wisconsin no less.
Will Stein might have more 3 and outs in 2 consecutive home games than any OC since Chip Kelly.
This wasn't weather.
It barely rained before halftime.
This is a systematic problem.
Moore may be too mentally fragile to lead. But, lazy gameplanning is putting him in situations that shouldn't exist.
The first half felt similar to Indiana. The opponent knew what was coming, shut down routes, and forced coverage sacks. There's no way that should happen to this Badger team unless you suck at your job.
Oregon is loaded with talent. But against a D with a pulse, we wilt like Dutch round cabbage dunked in hot poultry broth.
I'm seeing at least 2 more losses. Maybe 3. No natty, no playoff.
I think the big10 might struggle to get 3 teams.
Fuck

I see your psy op nonsense. They will talk about how UW is just another game all week then, to deep dive paraphrase the pod, come out all greased up and high on pervitin looking to put 60 on the Fisch.

as someone else pointed out, all these 2 loss SEC teams being ranked (while UW and Iowa aren’t) is definitely them setting up to jam 5 or even 6 sec teams in.

appreciate the candor. My heart is breaking. Some of the questions I had about Oregon's two-level talent depth chart going into the season are showing.
You could still put together a playoff season in what is finally a rebuilding year so I wouldn't completely lose it just yet. Iowa is Iowa. USC has played Oregon soft since Pete left and UW always pees down their leg against Oregon unless they have Penix or when they are way better than them (16/17).

UCLA in Pasadena scares me more than Oregon at home. Oregon would need an absolute collapse to be in jeopardy of missing the playoff. Great talent, media coaching.

do your coaches suck? Because you’ve been stacking and buying talent that should be able to compete with buck nuts.

To me, the issue is Moore. He's soft, plain and simple. Soft.
He can run but clearly tries to avoid it.
He gets the yips in the pocket after he's been touched a few times and the rhythm is off for the rest of the game.
Thomas came in after what appeared to be a bump on the nose after a facemask or whatever and appeared to be an upgrade.
If Lanning is a mercenary, you might see Thomas take over at some point.
Moore has a nice arm and throws a great pass but you gotta have some balls playing that position and I'm not sure he does.

I can't disagree about anything you wrote here.
Well, maybe that Moore is THE problem. Not sure if meant it in exclusion of anything else though. My thought is that Stein is too predictable. Sharp DCs from middling squads clearly know what's coming. I don't have the numbers, but Oregon is in 3rd and long way too often. Lots of 3 or 4 and outs.
Playcalling is exacerbating the Moore problem, at least that's my thesis.

no, the 4th/5th string walk on qb isn’t going to take over. Agree with most of the rest, though.

Yeah, I've not been overly impressed with Stein. But I've seen Moore dancing around in the pocket early and losing composure and shitting the bed. So those are on him.
With the O line, TEs, WRs and RBs Oregon has their offense should hang 50+ on Wisconsin. I'll acknowledge that Badger came to play and that Fickle probably gave them one hell of a speech … and that one player, #8 I believe, was everywhere.
But 21 points to that team is ridicruous, especially considering how many chances they had because Wiscy offense is high school level bad.

Tell ya what - he looked better than Moore. Novostad or whatever his name is must either suck bad or is in Lanning's dog house for some reason.

Thomas played like he wasn't afraid. The contrast to Moore was noticeable.

Novosad is a weird situation—sounds like he is emergency qb only at this point because he’s transferring out after the season (moga, too). If Moore was out at Iowa, he’d start. Up 14-0 against fickell’s feckless (fecklessfickell would be a great name for the 5 reasons post on the badger site) offense, the game was over and they just needed to run the clock out so they threw on the walk on.

I agree with you on Moore, though I think it’s mostly inexperience more than anything and not taking the easy yards when given to him. Oregon’s tackles are also pretty poor in pass protect. Will be interesting to see if they make a shuffle on the right side of the line over the bye (Harkey to rg, Wilson to RT) to improve that side.

💯

one of my questions about Moore was the whole taking a year off thing. That just felt weird for a guy to do in 2024. I assume QBs and players want to be the man at all times, breathe fire, and not spend 12 months just practicing. The last QB I can remember who sat a year like that was Eason.

Makes you wonder if guys like that like being a star more than they like actually playing. There are people like that. They're happy with status and potential but less enthusiastic about proving it.
IDK. Seems soft. The slow mo of the helmet being pulled down and hitting his nose didn't seem that bad. And then he sits out a significant portion of a game that wasn't a blow out.

Lanning isn't going anywhere if it's about money (obviously, being at Phil U).
It's literally just about if someone wants him and he actually wants to go for other reasons (such as being in SEC).

I'm not really even convinced he'd be good/great anywhere else. It's really hard to evaluate coaches at Phil U, as that specific situation provides so many unique advantages.

To me the big question with Lanning or any Oregon coach who may or may not leave is how they like having Uncle Phil as the boss. Hard to read since there's no visibility on it but I assume there's a chance it's a better setup than whatever clusterfuck we just saw with some cajun ass governor shitting on Woodmert in Louisiana and 34 former plantation owners, Cadillac dealership kingpin boosters being your boss.
I'd say the same with living in Eugene. It's got cons, but is it better than living in a similar town in the south where people will hate you if you lose 1-2 games a year?
