Hubert can make throws like the one at the end of the first half against our DAWGS for a TD that makes scouts drool. Results are less important than potential
I do think he left a ton of money on the table by not being in this draft. If he struggles this year to be consistent it will hurt him
It's really what drives me crazy about all of the preseason Oregon hype. There are Twitter pundits who are actually predicting an undefeated regular season and a playoff berth? Why!? Smart people were able to look at how 2015 finished for UW and predict big things in 2016. That made sense: The conference's best defense, an offense on which the three most important positions were true freshmen who all improved bigly toward the end of the season, and closing out the season with three straight wins including a spanking of a top-25 team. Largest loss of the season was 17 points in a game with the backup QB. Even with three true freshmen at the most important positions on offense, they were a team that was dangerous in every single game they played.
Oregon? They had a better record than that 2015 Huskies team, but that's with a junior, supposedly #1 overall draft pick, at QB and against the weakest PAC-x conference I've seen in my lifetim. They got blown out 15-44 by freaking Arizona! They lost to the freaking Cuog by two touchdowns, barely beat ASU by 2 at home near the end of the season, and their bowl game was the only game of the entire CFB season that was a bigger turd than the Huskies' P12CG. In the meantime, they lost a receiver who was something like 70% of their passing offense last season, lost easily half of their front-seven talent in Hollins and Jelks, and apparently STILL nobody in the country has actually watched Herbert play.
And it's that last point that gets me. I could give three shits about any team, let alone Oregon, getting preseason hype if the hype if it's justified. In this case, though, the hype seems to be derived 50% from an incoming freshman class (stuuuuuuupid) and 50% from the return of a QB who's been at best wildly inconsistent his entire career butusedtobea#1projectionsohegood. Makes no sense.
