I'm want retest my 2k but it scares me. It takes me to a very dark place at about the 4 min mark.
Going under 7 mins is solid for old geezers.

One of the women on my daughter's team came in with her recruiting class from some schmancy boarding school and had rowed most of her life. She pulled a great score when they were freshman and never got close to it again because she couldn't handle the pressure of 2K testing. She'd throw up and all manner of shit. But she wanted in the 1v based on that one pull and bitched and moaned about it. She spent 4 years chasing that score trying to get into the big boat; seemed the harder she tried the more it eluded her. But I take it from that anecdote that testing isn't fun.

He really wasn't either. I suppose that's why he quit early. All jokes aside, I don't know a rower who is anything less than solid in the character department. It's like going to the academies: not for people who can't handle shit.
It's been said by @BearsWiin that row boat doesn't build character, rather that it reveals it. In this case it cannot be stated how charmin soft Fredo was for a 6'1" 185lb college freshman training 6 days a week. Penn ain't Worshington good, but they are still a Top 10 program typically.
This is why I snicker every time I see one of Donnie Jr's "manly" pics hunting big game in Africa or posing with the AR with fruity looking "crusader" receiver. Just go play tennis at the club and drink martinis and we good, pod.

I think that distinction has been lost. But your point still stands. To do this at all, much less well, takes a person who can withstand pain, maintain focus and work their ass off when people aren't watching.
People who are self-indulgent, impulsive, have delicate egos, need constant approval and positive reinforcement, dislike making sacrifices, and similar vices, really ought not to go near this sport.
There's a netflix special on "The Boys of '36" with fantastic footage of the Husky Crew training out on Lake Union, and in the beginning of the season there are all these people and they make your very point by pointing out that the team was always huge in the very beginning and then the herd thins out considerably once training begins.

I’ve sort of moved on to the ski erg. It’s a bit more miserable than the C2.
Is 2k measured on a rowing machine? I'm sure it is but I'm not afraid of looking stoopid. What's an example of a good 2k time, ave time and maybe the shittyist time of the guy on a GOOD rowing team.

Trump's (male) kids are total fags.
This is the time it takes to complete a 2000 meter rowing machine piece. Donnie JR only did freshman year at Penn. For his era anything under about 6:30 would have been okay and respectable. 7:02 would be a good time for a 45 year old man who trains 3 or 4 times a week. My dad pulled at 6:29 at age 40 but he was strong AF and trained hard.
Take my word on it - he's soft AF.

The Trump daughters got the good stuff. All of it. The girls could eat their siblings if they wanted to. I’m pretty sure that the Maples sibling kicked serious ass at Penn. I believe Ivanka more than held her own.

It depends on your size too. They have weight classes lightweight and heavy weight. Tall guys tends to do better
I’m at about 7:30. I have no rowing background and never tried until my late 40s. Yella says my time is ok for my age.
