Lake isn't going anywhere.
Reality is different from perception, though.
Middle aged white guy who was last at Iowa State versus Lake. I like this hire.

Obviously Lake isn’t long for his current position. But isn’t that true for every assistant coach on every staff in the country? Sure, some of the OCs and DCs may be stable for 5 year periods, but assistant level coaches have to be 2-3 years average in the same job, right?
The nice part about this early signing period is that we can play hardball with him. They'll tell him that if he doesn't sign, then he's not guaranteed a spot. I think if he makes it to campus this coming weekend, he'll sign on the 20th.

I’m not sure you can play hardball with all recruits ...
If you play hardball with Hampton he can just come back laughing at you saying that’s cool but I’m sure the upper elite of the SEC may have some interest ... he’s never going to be left without a spot.

Agreed, but you can play hardball with him when UW is clearly his best option.
From early on, I've always felt from reading Hampton's interviews, that he was hoping for other offers. His commitment to UW was very "well, I guess I'll go ahead and pick UW then". He was also trying to visit Oregon for their big recruiting weekend before WT left.
Dick Newton has had a similar recruitment. The difference is, I think teams will come after Hampton late.
It will be chinteresting to see how Pete handles this. I know his expectation is that all current commits sign on the 20th. You can't hold off recruniting a position because a kid wants to dick around until Feb. That's how you get left holding your dick in your hand on signing day.

Please explain how?
Right now the DB class looks like it has a chance to be an unmitigated disaster ... care to explain to me how that is the case?
If you actually thought about it for a second, you may realize that I'm not as crazy or as dumb as you think I am

just stop, dude. lake is objectively one of the best db coaches/recruiters in the country.
saying we're? better off without him is one of the most try-hard posts of all time.
