Do you think this just happens by accident?

Everyone sucked our dicks in 2023 and then I went and watched a movie about us beating the Nazi's and getting our dicks sucked even more.
This year everyone couldn't wait to suck our dicks after we upset Ohio State.
Wake the fuck up.
Maybe there is some confusion here. There is becoming a perennial power and there is becoming Buck. If Washington were to become what the group aspires them to be, everyone on this board would be dead before they could match were Buck is if history matters at all, and on this board and among Husky fans in general, it always has.

Everyone sucked Oregon's dick after they appeared (and lost) in a natty too. Doesn't make them Ohio State, or even on their way to being Ohio State.
Buck is one of my least favorite programs, so don't twist. I don't want this to be the case. It just is.

There's a difference between having high expectations and being delusional.
There's only 4 places on Mt Rushmore and UW has never been there and never will be unless Bill Gates quits being a fucking dweeb. Money, tradition, and location as they say.
The gold standard at UW is Don James level football which never was 25 years of 1 or 2 loss seasons.
And here it is
We can't
Why?
Well we can't
I was on the only team where we're on a college sports Mt Rushmore. I know about winning and stuff.

Love you all but I don't see this at all for so many reasons. As Coug did sadly AI actually has a great answer but I'll spare everyone that. If we're talking Big 10 programs, Michigan is much more the comparable one to UW and they are in a similar place after getting a great run from a hall of fame coach who turned their tide of mediocrity and struggle against their below state rival who is much more set up for college football in this millennium.
A title for UW looks more like Michigan's, complete with autistic guys, but Ohio State's machine doesn't at all look like a product of things that UW can't mostly do.
They have no whale(s) it is literally a chud army wage garnishment thing.
You make having a chud wage garnishment thing sound easy.
This is built on like 90 years of college football success and Ohio being a dump.

If you want to talk history no one matches a 63 game unbeaten streak
History is meaningless. Miami and Oregon had none
Who is talking about going back in time to match the last 25 years of Ohio
I'm saying if they can do it so can Washington and no one can tell me why they can't
Because they can. First you have to want to and that's the rub

Fair point, and what they lean on.
DeBoer stays at UW and then buys Mendoza and shit…there's a path where we?re rich and cool and full of bums but still rich and cool and taking a top 2-4 place in the B1G.
It's obvious with the schedule that the conference was afraid of that outcome, by the way.

Oregon is a lot closer to Ohio State than Washington which is another thing that should make you go hmmm

Washington State is trying hard to catch up to Ohio in that regard.

UW doesn't need to build themselves up from the AAC into Ohio State. They're building off of being Washington

Miami didn't have the "money" or "tradition" piece but they had location, location, location. Add in good coaches and they could be the on 1983- 2002 Mt Rushmore.
Oregon has the founder of the biggest sports brand in the world.
Those are 2 pretty unique scenarios that are hard to replicate.
UW can and should compete for National Titles. History shows we can. But color TV era history doesn't suggest UW can be a Mt Rushmore type program.

They're closer because they kept their coach and kept it all rolling.
They kept their coach because he kept losing to our coach.
Alabama, even as early as 2022, started getting envious of Washington's process and how uncool we are and yet how unflinching we are about shoving our cocks down everyone's throat, including Texas, when we are confident. So they started flying Grubb out there and getting their claws into our program. Fuck UW for letting that happen.

I'm old enough to remember Oregon being down to Ohio State 34-8 at half time to Ohio State.
They seem to not be too close to Ohio State when all the chips are on the table- e.g., 2014 Natty Game or 2024 Quarterfinals.

I agree that there is no reason why we can’t be a powerhouse, but the good programs play musical chairs with their coordinators every year. Grubb talking to Alabama before staying isn’t a big deal. It happens.

Usually yes, but when you were gone it was talked about here how grubb was brought in just to talk to Deboer.
At surface level it was, yeah, they were trying to steal our OC. But with DeBoer switching agents it looks like Alabama decided that they just wanted our football program outside of the defense.

Not following. It would help greatly if you would include the names of the programs to which you are comparing Washington. And then what you mean by: "UW doesn't need to build themselves up from the AAC."

I agree with you. The byes before Washington and Oregon road games almost looks purposeful, like the Big 10 is saying "fuck you guys; you're guests."
When in reality they are T5 in the conference.
They're in now and I believe the process to boot them out would be difficult. So, both programs should continue swinging their dicks. There is really one big dog in the B10 and it's who we've been discussing.

1 Ohio St will burn to the ground if they’re not that level. Their fans will riot. They are more afraid of not being that level than they enjoy being that level. The only rioters we have are on this board. Most UW fans just turn their attention elsewhere. Go Marinooogs!

2 The talent within a day’s drive of Columbus is way more than within a day’s drive of Seattle. It also doesn’t hurt there is not another major football school in the state of Ohio. At least going forward we don’t have this problem.
The counter point to all this is Oregon , which goes back to want to.

I bring up history because it acts as agent of inertia, both for those who have it and those who don't.
You know how much I have bristled at the history piece over the years. I get what you are saying. Husky fans use it on Oregon all the time. It's dumb but people use it selectively.
No, there is no reason Washington can't be Buck today. But they have some things to overcome. Yes, one of them is to find the will to do it and quit obsessing over all the allegedly illegitimate reasons other programs are more successful. I guess everyone does that, but still.

Both those Oregon teams were simply not as good as those Buck teams.
But they've taken the first step by beating them at home and on the road in the regular season.
Gotta start somewhere.

It has never been easier to build a killer program. NIL and the portal make it possible
Those who understand the new reality profit from it the most
UW was getting there. Then they punted
Sad
It's still right there. Fisch was there at closing time. Doesn't mean you marry him
Let's see what he does the rest of the way this year

We need more agent of inertia as @creepycoug would say. Sure, we can get lucky on a good coach here and there, but we're missing the agent of inertia piece.
