Do you ever think... "I can't believe I used to..."

In my case, it's listen to Softy.
I heard a clip of him this morning (sent to me) and all I could think is:
"I can't believe I used to listen to this gas bag".
Anyone else have any revelations along those lines? 😂

I thought Jimmy Lake would be an upgrade
Used to listen to the coaches show
Listened to Groz and Gas
Went to Dawgman.com recruiting banquets
doog it up

I can't believe that back 2016 I decided to start posting on a backwater, dark web, anonymous college football message board with a bunch of fucking dweebs, pal.

I don't mean to be like this and sound like a broken record, but if UW wants people to tune into their stuff like the coache's show, they need to seriously consider replacing Tony with someone that is a lifelong fan and grew up in the region.
The copying of the corporate cheerleader type of guy that moved across the country does not work in college football, and I can see locally how the 2 Oregon schools kind of got this right. You don't want sanitized corporate Dude that just wants to go home to his wife.

Ideally, college football is a homer, passionate fan base sport, even in the media. Things have changed and not for the better.

College copied pro in this regard obviously, and personally it just looks really cringe with the Sonics guy calling Blazer games.
What these execs value is not the same as what fans value.
Listening back to the Sugar Bowl ending all I can hear is Cam. Sorry, it's not entirely fair but it is what it is. Tony came over from like, Clemson basketball or something. Jesus.

Completely agree. When he mentioned having followed UW football for a decade I cringed

Thinking Tyee Club was worth it and I would never get good seats again. Now have better seats for maybe 1/10 the price

I haven't listened to Softy since the 2012 Apple Cup postgame show. It was so pathetic that I just said basta!

I like softy he cares about the dwags and has higher standards for the program than many give him credit for

He lobbied aggressively for WIllingham to get a fourth year. He played a role in that calamity.
He questioned the mental sanity of anyone who wouldn't get on board with Sark
Not long after that I checked out from him and KJR and haven't been back

I listen to him on occasion. He’s mostly insufferable but he does have more passion about UW football than anyone on the airwaves. So he has that going for him, which is nice.
But he’s hard to listen to for very long. He doesn’t listen to his guests and cohosts, and talks so much he gets out of breath. Then he loses his voice.
Just a weird guy. Entertaining in small doses though.

I listen everyday still. Just the podcasts. I work alone. I have a work truck to drive all day. Alone. Forgive me. If I could tolerate Dereks two cohosts of the Hardcore Husky pod I’d listen to that too.

@Joey
Since you're a Softy listener, what can you tell us about his take on all this right now?
Where's his vibe on Judd?
Do you get the sense he'd be fine if he left or would Softy prefer Judd stay for another year or more?

I'm guessing some of the most hardened posters here were doogs in past decades as well

Softy in any other market is that douchie sports talk guy. I listen via podcast a day later and can fast forward so that might be a reason I think he's fine.
He mosdef does give a shit about UW football. He is not a politician (at least, not as bad as others on the radio are) considering there is a line he has to tow.
So, if you are complaining that Tony C. isn't invested and isn't a local, you have to take Softy because he is a local and does give a fuck.
I don't hate him. I like when he has Hugh on. He is pretty fair most times. Who else in Seattle media-verse sees flaws and calls out shit playing?

Don't live in Seattle and never would consider listening to him, but Softy's twattering ends up in my feed.
He likes the Mariners more than the Huskies. An unforgivable prioritization.
