Campari can be served as a digestive, it will definitely work, but IMO, it is just plain nasty on it's own. It kills whatever flavor party you've got going on after a nice meal rather than enhancing it. In a cocktail it can work, but there needs to be something sweet in it to balance the bitter, or just go easy on the Campari so it gets adequately diluted.

Italians drink Negronis all the fucking time. The first time I had one I thought it was weird, then I realized it's also pretty genius.
And - for those of you who can't deal with Campari? Really? Jesus fucking Christ. You guys are a bunch of American fast food babies. FFS.
