Because they're idiots you knew they'd come up with a brilliant idea. They've introduced a bill to radically increase taxes on the "Big Five" oil companies. They maintain that big oil is price gouging Americans and exploiting Putin's war to do so. Their plan is to give that tax money back to Americans. These are not smart people, but then they know their voters are not that bright, so there's that.

They didn't suspend them because according to the DIMS that money goes for our transportation system and doing so let's big oil off the hook. I guess doing both was a bridge too far for DIMS. But they want to help people so it's okay.
