I'm a very vivid dreamer myself. I've always intentionally tried to process things in my dreams...and I sometimes wake up with good solutions.I’ve had 2 similar experiences like your sister-in-law. Both times were something in my dreams.
1991, mama Nacho dies. I go to sleep and have a dream where I’m in her hospital room, bed is empty and the sexy nurse is….wait, wrong dream.
Back to this dream, the nurse is cleaning the room and I look around and see my mom. It’s clear as day and she tells me not to worry and it’s time for her to go.
I was 18 and didn’t think much of it but always felt it was really my mom that spoke to me.
Fast forward to May, 2022. I buy my 84 Jeep off a guy in Tennessee. When I met him, he was gaunt and didn’t look super healthy. As we talk he tells me he’s selling the Jeep because he was diagnosed with cancer. His dad was the Jeep’s original owner so I knew it was serious enough.
I interacted with the guy 3 times in person. Super nice guy. We say our farewells and I text him once to ask a question about the Jeep. He answers and things are good.
About 2-3 months later, I have a dream in which I’m talking to the guy clear as day and we’re talking about the Jeep.
I wake up and decide to message him on Facebook (he listed the Jeep on FB Marketplace). A week or more goes by and I get a reply from his wife telling me he passed away 1-2 weeks prior.
When I was a kid - up to 10 years old, I had a power that's called "death-sense".
I would get a black and white picture of someone repeatedly and I got the sense then they would die soon. I told my dad that "name of person" and that I think they were about to die. This happened about 10 times when I was a kid. Every single person I told my dad who was going to die, would die within 2 weeks. My dad told me that my great grandma (who was a powerful German seer) had the same ability her whole life - she knew when friends or loved ones were about to die.
Trust your instincts. Some people can sense these extra dimensions in odd ways. I met a girl in Japan (friend of my wife) who had the same exact, various abilities as me - we are called "indigo children" by some. When I was in Japan there was a house near the Shibuya area (the big crosswalk area that's filmed by millions monthly) which had a very bad energy coming from it every time I walked past it, like some sort of demonic energy was there. I took that girl to the area and asked her to find which house was giving off any energy. That girl found the exact house. I asked her if it was a good or bad energy. She said, "It's not good."
I still have this death-sense ability, but it's way weaker from when I was a kid. I can sense some haunted houses just by walking past them...this ability is getting stronger as I age. I can find an odd energy and walk straight to it. A lot of temples and shrines are built on weird or odd energy spots - those might be above tectonic areas though, IMO.
Watch the very underrated movie, "A Ghost Story" with Casey Affleck in it. The message of the movie is that people trying to "leave a legacy" remain as ghosts. (Affleck's character was trying to write a "hit song").
