did the team quit on pete in the 2019 stanford game?

what else can explain a willingham-esque performance from a team that had ran train on the conference 3 years in a row? seriously what the fuck happened that game? try and rewatch it, you'll swear they are point shaving

stanford was playing walk-ons and chemistry grad students at OL and worked us...

what was really going on? pete probably never had a team actually rebel or quit against him before

Thinking back to that team, my belief is that they had a lot of key pieces / seniors who were probably more focused on getting to the NFL than playing as a cohesive team (particularly on offense). I may be talking out my ass, but Eason, Fuller, Ahmed, Bryant, Adams, Opera and I'm sure I'm missing a few others all had stuff to prove as individuals and the clock was ticking for each of them.

Last years team will forever be one of my least favorite. It was a tweeener team where the best players from the early Pete recruiting classes were gone leaving the guys who never did much as the senior leaders (Bacchelia, Fuller, Manu). The guys from the really good Pete classes were still too young. You had some guys who should have been your leaders but i don't really think wanted to be there and played like it (Trey Adams, Eason, possibly Hunter Bryant), and you had a HC who was burned out.

For me, it was that third group (including the coach) who were just going through the motions that really screwed up the season.

What's crazy was that game was a week after we beat USC at home, probably the pinnacle of the 2019 season. The Cal game was a distant memory by that point and we were all dooging out after winning 3 straight and getting back into the top 15.

I was at the game. Sideline looked completely dead as if they were forced to be there. Worst game day experience since Owen for me

Playing at Tree usually drains the life force from the DAWGS

The score was much closer than the game really was. That was the worst Stanford beating we'd gotten since the Sark years, and it was by far the worst Stanford team we'd faced under Pete. If we don't revenge fuck them this weekend I'm going to be pissed.

NFL ruins everything.

Pete always dropped games to scrubs for no reason, outside of 2016. 2019 just had multiple

During the 2016- 18 run, Pete, only lost one game to "scrubs" - i.e., Cal in 2018. 2017 Stanford and ASU were both talented teams (at least according to the TBS feegs). 2019 was the year he lost the team and started dropping lots of games to scrubs.

2017 Stanford and ASU both sucked and TBS is fucking meaningless

Disagree, Anton.

Stanford went 7-2 in the conference that year and finished the year #20 in the AP.

Arizona State went 6-3 and finished 2nd in the South.

They weren't great teams, but they certainly didn't "suck". Better UW teams than 2017 have lost to far worse opponents.

Washington has quit in every game the have dropped in the Bay Area over the past few years, I would know I was dumb enough to sit through all of them in person. Never again.

In the Haener game I'm not sure the Huskies ever started

Some say the rejoices of Wilbur and me at the site of Haener can still be heard echoing through strawberry canyon.

I just remember screaming at the television to load the fucking box against the makeshift offensive line and 8th string quarterback. I guess they couldn't hear me.

You obviously didn’t attend the 2010 Stanford game.
