@dickfain Romar has overachieved with this team. Granted, he should have recruited better, but has done a great job coaching this group.

Think about this:

In John Wooden's 31 years of coaching, his lowest conference finish was 3rd ... he did that 3 times.

For those that think it's unfair to compare Romar to Wooden, how about Mike Montgomery ... he's finished 3rd or better 22 of 31 years as a HC.

Romar? Given that we won't finish 3rd or better this year, Romar will have done that 9 out of his 18 seasons as a HC.

If you're a high end coach, you finish 3rd or better in your conference 2/3 of the time or better ... you can look that up.
 
I love how Fain dismisses recruiting. "Granted Romar shouldn't have recruited shit, but it's the best shit sandwich that anyone could make."
 
Adam Desautels is actually a friend of mine. I don't give a shit about basketball and have never spoken to him about basketball in any meaningful way but based on football talk I would not rule out the whoosh. Keep in mind he is a high school basketball coach and I am sure does not want to burn any bridges and I really suspect that his comment is more trying to curry favor. Who doesn't pander to the people directly above you in the food chain?
