I met an Irish fan couple weeks ago. He saw my UW shirt and mentioned going out for that game “in 94 or 95?”
I said “95, ND scored late to take the lead in the east end zone leaving Lake Dawson completely uncovered.”

Funny enough your article made some random connections for me too. Lou Holtz, whom you mentioned, had the color commentary when UW faced Tulane in the 1987 Independence Bowl. He’d just taken the Notre Dame job and was still free to call a game pitting Mack Browns Green Wave v Don James and his 6-4-1 Washington Huskies still QBd by the aforementioned Chris Chandler playing his last college football game. I must have my bowl games mixed up. I knew he called a UW game but I was too lazy to look it up. Thought it was the independence bowl in 87.
