Demolishment begins on Aloha Stadium

Aloha means goodbye

Lot of good memories, and some not so good ones, from that old rust bucket. The concept of a stadium that actually moved from football to a baseball configuration was definitely ahead of its time. Even if you could do it, why would you (No pro teams in the state)?

Anyway, losses by Ty and to PSU were some of the bad ones. But, also 0regon (part of a UW/0regon Christmas double header) losing, and watching the Warriors win a bunch there, during the June Jones era, was priceless. And, no, the 0regon loss did not make up for Air Farce dismantling UW in 1998's Oahu Bowel.

Going from a 15,200 seat (or so) on campus stadium to a slightly bigger venue (22,500) is special. Particularly when you (I) will have to drive for a mile and a half to park illegally (park and ride lot is seriously only 10% of what it should be) to take the "new" rail system to the game.

Can't imagine the press box ever swaying any more than when UH beat Ty and the Dwags for a berth in the BCS! BCS! BCS! BCS!

I thought the thing was going to collapse.

We have the dvd replay of that game at my family's cabin and if there were ever to be a "The Ring" situation it would come from that son of a bitch.

I'll never forget sitting there after the rainbow fags beat ty willingham after Uw went out to a huge lead I knew willingham would be fired in the coming days so I was ok with it all. Then the football president gave that worthless fuck another year to go Owen 12. FYFMFE

I lived on Oahu for 10 years. I love that place. My son was on an amazing youth baseball team in central part of the state, and I like surfing so how can you not have great memories.

Anyway, I hope whatever replaces that stadium takes the tailgating into account. Hawaiians fill that parking lot up and know how to do that shit. Fuckin food is off the chain. Shootz.

Well, as you know it is the most isolated state in the universe. 2,500 miles to anywhere at all that is not an atoll. So, everything is expensive. I came here, in 1982, for a year or two and then somehow I retired here. I can't imagine living ANYWHERE else, except possibly, on the lovely grey and dismal sandy beaches of Miami. Shout out to the creep who REALLY likes silver or bronze medals or even participation trophies. Yep, the creep/Miami finished 20th not 30th. There is a HUGE difference between the two.

Oahu is technically my home but Honolulu proper is a little too dense for me. Hence the house in Ewa and likely retirement in Kona. But, the thing about Oahu, as you know, is that anywhere on the island is only an hour away.

Never did learn to surf but the running (for example) community here is second to none. Just one big ohana. There is nothing like a weekend of enjoying the beaches or trails and ending the day with a couple of cold beers and some spicy ahi poke. I could do it forever and not get tired. 44 years and counting.

It's always been one of my doog conspiracies.

The "biggest indoor practice facility in college football!!" is going to be the real stadium long term after Phil is gone because they think that the hellfire forest fires down there and Autzen's age will force that.
