Deboner won NAIA title THREE times

There's a shitload of NAIA teams, so that's pretty damn impressive.

There are no NAIA teams left in Washington. Central was NAIA when we? won the NC with Kitna. For some reason the really small colleges are all D3 NCAA now.

Shitload? There’s about 100. Not sure if that qualifies as a “shitload”. But whatever.

The small colleges are NCAA D3 because of one thing: Money.

HTH.

This looks to me like a good hire. For as much condescension as you assholes put into small / midsize football, 3 national titles is very impressive, and I see second place also.

actually a fuckload

In a sign that the SMOD is about to end us all I actually agree with @AOG on this one.

If you listened to our shitty POD I broke down numbers. Sioux falls won a little man's natty in 96 and was a decent program. Deboer takes over and they immediately go full Bama on little sisters of the poor. He leaves and the new guy has dropped little Sioux back into mediocrity.

There isn't something systemic about his record there. He made a difference.

Don’t beat yourself up over my shittyness.

In the last couple of days the editorials on the hire make light of the NAIA natty's... in one case somebody compared this to Pop Warner coaching (paraphrased, big name coach says "even if it's Pop Warner he's doing something right!").

What is missing here is that people don't understand that at the NAIA level, D2, D3, etc, resources are very limited. Money is not rolling in and a lot of people are competing for a little.

I think most people don't think of NAIA as "real" college football, so they just write off the Natty's. What's the difference? It's like Pop Warner, right?

Chuck Tarbox won a lot too. Look at the play calls while he was at IU. Then post again

The offense was one of the best in school history when DeBoer was their OC. But still.

They started the year 7-2 and got to the no. 24 ranking despite having diddly shit for talent on that roster. Indiana didn't recruit a single 4-star player from 2015-2018.

It looks like he can make the most of whatever situation he's in. Now what will he do that he has everything he needs? Maybe we? should remove all the luxury, stick him some tiny office. Make him feel at home. Put up a D3 sign.
