Literally the only way either of those 2 can win is if they can face each other.
 
DeBoner can be overrated/planned to have left early.
AND UW is cheap and took a "lose 7 games and save $5 million" coupon.
Both can be true at once.

Me and Joey have always been Grubb's Bama interview was an inside job truthers. I think he also interviewed at A&M, which would make sense given it was likely that job would open up too, and Sexton was Jimbo's agent.
My guess is Sexton probably hoped to land DeBoer one of those places, have UW promote Grubb, then sign Grubb.

Alabama can't afford a one time 60m payout to Deboer, However they can afford a one million dollar buyout to him paid every month until Jan 2031 which is the buyout terms of the contract.
If they can find a coach who will agree to 11 million a year then it's a wash with Kalen's buyout, If they find a "diamond in the rough" coach who only needs 10 million a year, they make a million on the trade.

A million a month is still 12 mil a year, which is a lot. Then if you're going for a big fish, you're also paying their buyout, then you have to actually pay them. That adds up to a shit ton. Especially since all you hear is Bama isn't drowning in cash. Didn't we struggle to buyout Jimmy's 9 mil over 3 years?
