Softy asked why he didn't take the first extension offer after the first Oregon game. He basically said the offer wasn't good enough and after that he shifted to focusing on the rest of the season and decided to hold until the off-season to negotiate more.
Could've kept him if they had made a big boy offer in October.

Did the offseason start after the Sugar Bowl and before Michigan?
 
Dannen’s quoted as saying they offered him like 9.5 somewhere after the P12 CCG. That may have been the one on one he did with Dork Fain. His salary right now is 10.85 I think. I don’t believe either one honestly. I think both of them chose the elect button when they were forced to use pronouns… alright I’ll take it to the tug

Plus probably multiple more millions in perks from boosters. Saban hasn't had to make a car or house payment in 20 years. And what were the incentives/bonuses/guarantees, etc.
The whole thing sucks and a part of me wishes he'd stayed UW because I don't ever want to see shit like this go down, but if Oregon had lost Lanning, Fisch would probably be their coach right now.

Outside of a house, the daily cost of living difference is dollars, and he already owned a house. It’s not like DeBoer would be sweating paying a dollar more for cereal.
Cost of living matters if you’re middle class or lower, it doesn’t mean shit if you’re making $10M a year.
