Folks are also free to use the mute and ignore functions. You can make the site the kind of experience you want it to be.

I agree with NY Ute. Too often we are asked to conform to the likes and comfort level of other people. But we all have different thresholds as to what is and isn't acceptable on a message board like this. As for me, I'm a big proponent of not censoring others, except in extreme cases. If you don't like what others have to say, or how they choose to say it, use the ignore button.

Message from a soon-to-be former Scout Poster

I hold firm that all posters can become more civil with time and effort. In 2012-2013 I was as big of a jerk as anyone 90% of the time. I have worked hard and now estimate that I am a condescending assface only about 20% of the time. In 3 more years I am hopeful that I can achieve Ute Zone Nirvana and become a light and inspiration to you all. Oh, and in the name of that 20% of my assfacedness, to all of you who are soooooo sensitive...I send a hug.

Thanks Meso----- appreciate your inspiring spiritual battle to exorcise that 80% of your personality that had been taken over by "Something Dark" that was damn near---- DEMONIC..!!! Frankly, you made many on this board uncomfortable... Some experienced feelings of--- rejection and insecurity.
Then.....A miracle------ Father Dan came over to Scout and sprinkled Holy water on the site.... Now, even that remaining 20% of your personality that is still infested with 'assfaceness' and often spews evil micro-aggressions at us---- we forgive....
Brother, Meso---we recognize your struggle and pray for you... May you soon reach Ute Zone Nirvana and become a source of light and inspiration to all.....
BUT-----by chance, should the 20% of your 'Meso-assfaceness' personality be deemed "Incurable"...... THEN-----may Odin take pity on your miserable soul and we'll soon welcome you to the golden Halls of Vahalla..!!

I understand why there is a mute option and that by using it you can eliminate people who like to flame or make personal attacks.
However, I am also a person who is willing to accept that there are opinions that are different than my own. I am open to having conversations on all aspects of Utah athletics. By muting people while you could argue they don't add much value with personal attacks I feel it also mutes opposing opinions.
I don't condone personal attacks and definitely believe people should be able to make an argument without attacking the person, I just don't believe the mute all option is the answer.
If you're old enough to pay for a site, you should also be old enough to have a valid discussion even with people who's opinion is 180 degrees from your own.
To this day I will argue that as a ticket holder my first belief is that Chris Hill should make my experience fantastic before he allows more people into the stadium. Because if the stadium expands by 10K people and it makes the restroom issue that much worse, I am going to be PISSED..probably both figuratively and literally.
Maybe I grew up in a different time when if somebody kept annoying the poop out of you the best thing to do would be to punch him in the face. That's still my stance here, learn to behave or get kicked to the curb.

If I owe you an apology please let me know and I will fulfill your wish. Although...since you have muted me I guess you will not see this message.

No apology needed. You are off ignore. KI thought one of your replies was snarky and maybe I was thin skinned.

I will try to be less snarky. I wish to apologize to anyone who I had personally attacked on this site (AZUTE comes to mind from a few years back). That is not who I want to be. I may have an opinion...even strong opinions that are not in line with everyone else, but I do not think it is OK to attack any other poster personally. Disagree with me all you want, but try, as I promise as well, to not attack people personally.
Of course the real test for me in the snarky department will come some time in November when we fail to put the ball over the goal line after 1st and Goal from the 3 yard line or in January when our basketball team throws the ball all over the gym...those are the times that try.
