Dave Hoffmann's son (freshman linebacker)

I don't know what I expected from a Fr LB, but he definitely exceeded my expectations. Hope he grows to love Azeem & Death Row the way we have.

That was cool. He tackles just like his Dad. Takes short steps as he reads the play then throws arms back and delivers a blow. He looks like he will have some of Uncle Stephens height who was 6'6", well he was listed 6'6" but really taller.

I was going to comment on his tackling too, clearly his dad has groomed him, he brings his arms on the tackle like he's been tackling for 10 years, kid is legit.

Did I just seriously watch a freshman football highlight film of a kid that wasn't playing on varsity?

He's bigger than everybody he's playing against ... but the thing that stands out is that when he tackles they either go straight down or backwards. The technique is sound in the fundaments (to be expected given his lineage) and for that age seems to be relatively comfortable playing in space. Definitely not stiff in the hips ... not hard to project as a PAC level player.

Only question that I have is whether or not he'll end up getting too big to play MLB and instead will have to follow his uncle's footsteps to the DL or to the outside as a LB.

Fuck. Even Jerry Sandusky thinks this shit is over the line.

That said, it'd be great to have Hoffman roaming the sidelines again!

When even the Samoans in the highlight are little, it's time to step back and take a long walk to gain some perspective.

I was thinking of watching the highlight film until I read this post. Thank you, Doogles.
