He didn't have any better offers than UW. Offering an in state kid with committable offers from USC and Ohio State and then slow playing him when he wants to commit would not work out well. Plus, Chase is originally from Oregon. He's a pseudo in-state kid.

Uh, isn't this worse? If he committed to bama he could just tell people he turned down UW. This way everyone knows UW didn't want him, or they will ask him why he chose Nebraska over UW.
