He had a losing record in bowl games while at Miami. Also as a college head coach.

And one of the three Ls was his first year, when he went 8-5 and transitioning to his defense, which would become their identity. He was rolling when he left and would no doubt have won more natties and bowl games had he stayed. Gifted at least one to Dennis.

I discount his record at Oklahoma State back then. That’s like coaching Coug or Beav in the PAC. You are going to lose.

Didn’t Arkansas pass on Jimmy Johnson before he took the OKstate job? It’s very possible he would have had 6Super Bowl rings before Bill B. if Jerry wasn’t such an egomaniac about Jimmy’s success. Obviously great business man but his GM skills is about as bad as it gets.
