Holy shit. Ken Burns did a country music doc that will debut on PBS later this month. Call me considerably aroused.

@Tequilla I’m sure Buck Owens will get way more coverage than the new country artists.

Can't wait to hear how racist country music has been

Conservatives suck at documentaries. So we’re stuck with ol’ Kenny. Just have to grin and bear it.

Liberal documentaries suck and there isn't anything that is true in them, but they hold your attention. I gave up on documentaries

In fairness to Burns I think most of his work has been good to great. He’s no America hating Antifa whack job like Race

I'm about 2/3 into the first episode of the series. So far, it's pretty solid. Lots of good biographical stuff on the Jimmie Rogers and the Carter Family...stuff I definitely wasn't aware of previously. Never knew that the elites of Nashville didn't want anything to do with cuntry music originally. They thought they were supposed to be the "Athens" of the South and sophisticated.

No too much rayciscm hawt talk to trigger you guys. Just a lot of poor white and black people trying to make music.

I've really been enjoying it.

As was the case with Jazz, they seem heavily focused on the early stuff. Half way through and they are just getting to Hank Sr. But I have learned a ton a history about the bios of Jimmie Rodgers, Carter Family, Roy Acuff, Bob Wills, the Opry, etc. Endlessly fascinating. Thank god they got in so much interview tape with Merle before he passed.

I missed Eps 1 & 2, I think. I'm more interested in the early so I'll need to find those two. Don't worry, you'll get a shit ton of Hank Sr as it goes on.

When they get to the dawning of the hot batshit crazy female singers like Shania, let me know.

They don’t. But there’s plenty of dolly boobs.

Not being a country music fan, I only knew the cartoonish version of Dolly. Young Dolly was hot as bawls and amazing singer.

when I first heard country music I hated it - loved the women. The duets of Dolly with Porter Waggoner were the ones I just could not handle.

Love 'em now. butt not the jackets
