First, you're killing me.

Different era I guess. There's no going home is there? I don't think the U can keep the critical mass of kids they used to. There are a dozen local kids who helped beat them tonight who would have been Hurricanes 20 years ago ... now they're going to fucking Louisville. Louisville! Back in the day there were no Louisvilles, the SEC wasn't the pumped up whore it is now so going to LSU and Georgia back then wasn't as compelling as it is now, nobody ever left Florida for USC or UCLA, blah blah blah, yadda yadda yadda.

That said, it's not like they don't have good players. All their linemen were highly recruited, Erick Flowers for one will be a beast in the NFL, they sign a fucking running back every fucking year that everybody else wants, Stacy Coley is John Ross, they have a ton of real, not imagined, talent in the D backfield, Perryman is a beast and will continue the Linebacker U tradition in the NFL ... Kaaya looks like he has the goods. I don't fucking know what the issue is really. D line maybe still average ... I like Olsen Pierre but otherwise their D line doesn't really have any stars, though they played pretty well tonight. Their defense has been as easy as a french whore for a few years now, and they finally show up and play a game and their offense can't finish a fucking drive to save their lives.

You tell me man, I just don't fucking know. I think they're going find out that Golden is like a buttoned up, east coast version of Dude brah. Only he won a little at Temple, which is more than Dude brah has ever done on his own. But that little distinction notwithstanding, Golden doesn't appear to be the guy. Fuck.

"Our academic standards are just too high and we can't get some of these guys in who go on to play in the SEC and at schools like Louisville." "You don't realize what a mess Shannon left." On and on. It's like working for the state department of redundancy department reading those boards. Same shit, same lines, different program. lather, rinse ... oh fuck it.

Side note: has any coach anywhere ever amassed talent like Davis did from about 1998 through 2000? Go through those rosters some time. Not the best game day guy, but the fucker could spot and recruit talent like nobody.

Al Golden looks like Fred Flintstone and is a bad coach. I have a friend with season tickets in Miami. It wasn't a rabid fan base to begin with, but he said nobody gives a fuck anymore.

They fucked up hiring Randy Shannon. He was the DC of the head coach (Coker) who got fired. Al Golden is only marginally better. A great coach would destroy down there, but it's basically a dead program at this point. If they were smart they would fire Golden, but they will let him win his 7-9 games every year and accept it.

The big takeaway from last night is that Bobby Petrino can fucking coach. Can't ride a motorcycle or hide his mistress worth shit, but he can coach college ball.

He should have been on the Cane sideline.

We'll see when Louisville plays FSU how good they are. Miami just didn't look like Miami.
 
my two thoughts on last night's game were:

1) I actually like Miami's uniforms and wish our AD would force the pool boy to come up with stuff like that in purple and gold

2) Al Golden looks like he bought his clothes at the campus bookstore at the last minute while on his way to an alumni wine and cheese party as a member of the Oozma Kappas.
