Credit to the Defense

The defense did enough. It's crazy how thin the defense is at DE. A lot of reps being played by Lynch who just isn't a power conference player. Way too top heavy. Looks like Grimace out there.

if we’re bad mouthing Grimace, I’m out
Anybody remember when Family Guy referred to Grimace as “Ronald McDonald’s retarded friend” then got slapped on the wrist and changed it to “autistic friend” for syndication?

All this Grimace hate shall not stand!

I’m hoping ZRS starts blowing shit up in the position like Littleton did.
Yeah, it would be awesome to wait until his fifth year to play well like Littleton.

I would take another Littleton, but he wasn’t all that special. Feeney was the better college player.

It's crazy how momentum can swing games. It makes no sense yet is the most powerful force in sportsball. It's why you can't play to not lose.
Jonah practically broke their best defender's shoulder early in the game, was how physical we were from snap 1.
"Momentum" doesn't look like:
3, immediate stop, 7, immediate stop, 7, immediate stop, 7, turnover on downs, kneel out the clock after a few runs.

Game reminded me of TCU/Oregon. What was that Frog’s qb name? Hardschteider? Fahrkenschluber?

Lynch had a key TFL and batted down a pass
Yes, who cares what Lynch looks like after a key TFL and TWO batted down passes? We don't need him to win the underwear Olympics.
Walters was getting too fancy in the first half with zone blitzes but their frosh QB wasn't phased by it. I'm glad he ditched that and mostly went with man coverage saying "let's just out athlete these guys".
Leroy Bryant also played well and was tough as the nickel back.
The offense also made an adjustment in having Coleman stay in more to help McCree in pass-pro. Coleman also helped Azzopardi during a key completion. I'm not sure why the offense didn't have a better plan to help McCree and putting Moore / DeGraaf next to McCree to chip the DE but maybe they thought Williams would take off and run more (like he did in the 2nd half) instead of holding it / taking sacks (like in the first).
Hopefully Willis, Durfee, and Mills can come back for the Michigan game. Durfee is key because with Russell Davis out for the season, Lane and the Lynch / Ward combo aren't enough against better conference teams.

I thought UW was helped by Maryland's conservative offensive play in the 2nd half though.
Even more by Terp panicking and going tempo + pass in 4th when running and milking the clock was their best option.
They lost momentum, tried to goback to what worked earlier, and the rest, as they? say, was doog debauchery.

I'm not gonna go too much into critiquing a player man but it's not just the look man. Especially against Ohio State.

Yeah he's not a 6'5" 255 lbs Adonis but he got the job done. Against better teams, he will have a tougher time but he is filling a role and should also do well against Rutgers. Can Durfee come back by the Michigan game?

why did Taco suit up if he was declared out before the game? Is he a pussy or is there something else going on?
i’ve been suspicious for two weeks on here about this injury. If doesn’t play vs Rutgers….very well is just sitting out for the year sitting out for the year

This thread got me curious about how Maryland moved throughout the game. These are mostly accurate numbers.

1st quarter 9 carries for 39 yards and a TD and 6/10 passing for 33 yards.
2nd quarter 7 carries for 18 yards and 8/15 passing for 66 yards and a pick.
3rd quarter 3 carries for 8 yards and 6/9 passing for 71 yards and a TD.
4th quarter 1 carry for 2 yards and 9/14 passing for 46 yards.
Overall 30/49 passing for 215 yards and 20 carries for 57 yards. * official stats show 55 yards rushing.
Maryland went away from the run starting in the 2nd quarter when they averaged 2.5 ypc.

Speaking of players that don’t have prototypical looks, Jacob Manu is a fucking fire hydrant and reminds me of Nik Bolton (fuckin’ Bob Gregory).

Leroy Bryant basically got beat on 3rd down which would have been a touchdown if the receiver caught the ball. He just is not up to par in his coverage skills. Washington was lucky the receiver didn’t catch it even though it was a perfect pass. Next play was 4th down and Pysock batted it down

I love how he plays, reminds me of old school Husky Football. We? need more players like him.

He’s a stud. We can’t redshirt him because we need him too badly this year. Bryant and the WSU transfer both return next year anyways.

It was a dime. It wasn’t terrible coverage and Leroy Bryant does make some plays, but he’s not great right now. Clark was obviously a spring Doog legend. He doesn’t even see the field.

If/when Taco comes back, Bryant will have some competition with Dylan Robinson and Batman. Against certain teams, we can get away with going bigger at nickel.

Clark got PT and is hurt

I knew he played early. I didn’t know he got hurt.

That's exactly what I was thinking initially. Apparently in the new world order of CFB the player is more important than the team. Sad.
