So here's the causation querey: Are men who are prone to beat their wives more likely to become cops, or is police work more likely to produce men who beat their cops? I'm sure it's abundance, but I'd bet it's more B than A. And I'd bet the same holds true for the military as well (and probably moreso), at least for men who have seen combat.
