I can’t handle the ups and downs
I know a lot of people hate Lou but I’ve always been a fan.

The ND faithful love him. When he made that "save Jimmy Johnson's ass for me" comment in his pre-game, he really got them going, whereas for me, I'd be like, "And what the fuck are you going to do?"
But like I said, the Irish love him as much as anyone who's coached there.
He was a myopic SOB and I thought Mark May, who generally rubbed me the wrong way, owned his ass in every debate. Lou is terrible at arguing sports, though it never stopped him from doing it, resting on old sentimentalities, biases, generalizations and corny af bullshit that was either irrelevant or belied the truth about his chosen profession and even his own role in that profession.
He gets credit for making ND relevant again after a long, long layoff. But he won only one natty and his team wasn't even the best team in the country that year. Funny personality at times, in a Mr. Magoo kind of way, but was mostly full of shit and I think a good, but not great, coach.
No axe to grind. I'm not nearly as hostile towards the Irish as I was once upon a time.
