It has been discussed here before but it seems to be getting critical with the number of pilots reaching mandatory retirement at 65y/o.

Congress is reviewing and there was a recommendation to up the retirement age to 67 y/o to relieve some of the pressure until new pilots can be trained.

Petey is dead set against raising the retirement age.

“The answer is not to keep the Baby Boomer generation in the cockpit indefinitely. The answer is to have as many as a good pilots ready to take their place, to have a stronger pipeline.”

Airlines in deep shit. Incoming pilots are often terrible. My friend since high school is an FAA designee and says the new incoming suck ass for the most part except for military guys. Woke standards are now being applied to pilots...

ASU and the University of N. Dakota both have aviation schools at the ASU Mesa Polytechnic Campus.

ASU has an accelerated pilot training program where you graduate with 1000/hrs. Good time to get into flying if you have the necessary skill set.

A friend of mine is a Captain for a certain airline HQ'd in Atlanta- He texted me yesterday about new pilot going through the training program threw a fit because his preferred "non-binary" pronouns weren't listed in the documentation. I don't how many of you are aware of this, but one of the top qualities of a pilot is keeping their cool in adverse situations. Really hoping he doesn't show the same lack of constraint when Air Traffic Control mis-genders him, which I guarantee they will.

Had a long delay in Houston during the storm of the century. Watched a large group of KLM attendants boarding a 747. Damn.

They ain’t Alaska and that’s a good thing.

When I was 20, one of my first jobs when I moved to Seattle was groundskeeper and pool and spa operator for the Red Lion Hotel when it was on the corner of hywy 99 and s 188th across from the airport.

We had all kinds of different stewardesses stay at the hotel but the Martin Air stewardesses would always stay at the Red Lion Hotel and would sunbathe topless on the pool deck in the mornings when nobody was out there.

Of course, it was my job to make sure the chemicals were perfect and the pool and deck were spotless and all the flower beds were raked and the flowers were fed and watered every morning, so everything was perfect for our guests!

Let's just say, I took my job very seriously. It was a great job for a young man back in the 80s

I was staying at a Houston Hotel that was the home hotel for Singapore Airlines and when a flight crew for one of the international jumbo jet flight crew checked in. No one was within decades of retirement age.
