Unfortunately, the dem mayors are basically untouchable and they and their commie city councils get to decide if they want to use force and actually convict and imprison the rioters. In Portland, the soi beta Mayor Wheeler is facing a November election against an avowed antifa supporter. In Portland like Seattle and Minneapolis your best case is a left wing socialist who will concede space to the hard left.

Since CNN has finally decided that the riots are bad, look for them to double down on the white supremacists/neo-Nazis Trump supporters are behind these riots.
