Clay Helton fired

Excellent news. As a fan of a program that has decided it will no longer compete for conference championships, and with Oregon asserting itself as the runaway leader of this conference, I am doogishly awaiting USC's return to prominence. Someone has to beat Oregon (nothing else matters), and it sure as fuck isn't going to be us.

trying too hard as usual

Petersen didn’t turn USC down….

They decided to go with Sark instead.

That’s exactly what happened. CP showed up in Hayden’s office with a 3 year plan to return USC to where it should be and they went with drunk ass Sark who gave them a bunch of rah rah bullshit about bringing back USC Showtime from his years under Carrol. My USC friends are still furious about it.

I think there will be pressure to make an affirmative action hire or at least have some serious minority candidates and I also think it’s highly unlikely that they hire a coach with any serious baggage (e.g. Bob Stoops) due to their history of scandals and their billion dollar lawsuit. They’re trying to rehab their image.

I think it would be a shame if Sumlin doesn’t get a serious look.
