Chuck's OFFICIAL 2026 Mariners season thread

every Moog out there knows the team will be back to sucking for another 20+ years once the pitchers become eligible for real contracts.
Maybe not quite the case this time. Dipoto seems to think they can extend a couple of them, and they have Sloan and Anderson ready to step in. The rotation in three years could be Gilbert, Woo, Sloan and Anderson plus someone. I doubt it's George Kirby as I see him getting traded next offseason. It's not guaranteed that they'll face plant.

Raleigh and Julio are locked in for a while. Cole Young and Colt Emerson could be stars well before those guys age out.

They built this pretty well and keep making stellar draft picks. It's the same old ownership but the front office has done a lot of good shit in spite of it.

Yes, drafting successfully is the name of that tune. Im in the Bay Area and the giants suck now with a high payroll because they haven’t drafted well for the last 5-7 years. Doesn’t matter what your draft slot is, you have to get SOMETHING out of the draft, and you better do well with international signings as well on a consistent basis or you are dead dogmeat.

Until Depoto showed up the Mariners normally got 1 player every 4 years. I was amazed at how consistently they sucked at drafting

Remember Al Chambers?

#1 pick in the draft for the M's. Had a grand total of 4 major league at bats.

The guy I think of is Matt Clement, catcher from USC. I think they took him in the top 3 or 4 picks. I don't remember him ever playing for the Ms.

Dipoto hasn't been perfect. He tied a lot of money to Evan White.

Is Cal feeling some pressure? I don't like him in the two hole. So far, eight plate appearances 1 BB 7 K's. Hasn't put a ball in play yet.

Raleigh looked pretty good hitting right handed tonight. Julio managed to retard his way to a clutch single.

Naylor looks like shit. He doesn't strike out every at bat but hasn't hit a ball over about 80mph yet.

Julio has started the season 1-for-15. I paid $35 for him. He always gives me heartburn.

Every year I think I might try to get Julio. Every year some bonio overpays for him and saves me the heartburn. I appreciate you for that.

EMerson Hancock looked insane last night. Also, Brendan Donovan is performing EXACTLY as expected. Dude is so good.
I've learned to not get excited about Hancock looking amazing once in a while. He has always done that, then the next thing you know he's repeatedly giving up 6 runs in 3 innings. He has to prove it, but wouldn't that be something if he was really that good? Maybe some killer trade bait...

I'm sure Donovan will have some down periods too, but he has the look of a guy who just plays how he plays and does it consistently. I'm pretty damn excited about what he does for the offense. I just about shat myself when he slid into the wall the other night and came up limping.

Breaking news...

They never should have built an outdoor baseball stadium. It kills the ball for the first third and last third of the season.
