Completely understandable. Watching the Russian military getting absolutely obliterated by a country a tenth of it's size using western military doctrine, the Chinese probably figured that their military strategy is outdated. Remember, the Chinese and Russians ran a lot of joint drills before the Russian war with Ukraine, so I'm assuming their strategy and approach are very similar. China is probably scared to death, because the world has now seen first hand how exaggerated Russia's military strength really is.
