CFP schedule

I'm hearing the CFP schedule has been locked in through 2030, with the natty continuing in the 3rd-4th week of January.

Nobody wants this. Look at next year's schedule. You tell me if you see any inefficiencies:

Week 1 (1st game for 95% of teams)
Sep 3-5

*Midpoint of season*
Nov 15

End of regular season (2 weeks after midpoint)
Nov 27-28

Conference titles games
Dec 4-5

Round 1 (Teams #5-12)
Dec 18-19

Quarterfinals (Final 8)
Dec 30, Jan 1

Semifinals
Jan 14-15

Championship
Jan 25

I don't get how this makes more money for anyone. Only the Superbowl has a 2 week layoff following the last games. But college needs 2 weeks after conference title games to play 1st round games at home team stadiums? Then 2 more weeks for the next round? Then another 2 fucking weeks for semis, capping it off with 10-11 day layoff for the title game?

Clearly the networks and remnant bowl tie-ins are fucking it up, but why to this degree? Are you telling me the fucking Peach Bowl must happen on New Years? Even the Rose Bowl was played on Jan 2 once, so stop with the sanctimonious bs about New Years Day.

Personally, the schedule might be what I hate the most about the new playoff format.

I thought I read/heard this is dictated by ESPN and their insistence on having these games not be opposite the NFL schedule. So basically college football gets New Year's Day, as long as it isn't a Sunday, and every other game they have to slot around NFL windows. And we know the NFL has now claimed Thursday night plus the expanded Wild Card round.

I'm guessing the Wild Cards are the 9th through 11th (or that's the last week of the regular season?), which gives the CFP the option of two games on Friday night, the following Tuesday/Wednesday, or pushing to the next Thursday/Friday. Good luck to anyone who wants to travel.

And with a Friday semi, you either play the championship on Friday night or the following Monday.

And this is why the main board is dead; following the sport is exhausting.

Gotta give kids two week breaks to continue to pretend that they go to school and NCAA is about "student-athletes."

It'll make them more money because the longer they draw out the season, the more fast food, prescription drugs, credit cards, insurance, etc. commercials they can pump out. Advertising is what drives most of this crap.

They seem to be doing everything in their power to kill what makes CFB so enjoyable.

And they don't give a rat's ass as long as they rake in more money.

Jokes on them because I watch everything on DVR delay and skip all the commercials except for the Dr Phil guy teaching people not to be their parents. I’ll watch those at least once.

Those commercials are gold.
