Capitalism is obviously reserved for certain people

Fans siding with the owners has nothing to do with capitalism. What a terrible take. Racism is the reason.

I think that's a much more likely reason.

Selfishness is probably the biggest. What's good for the owners is generally good for the fans, at least in the short term.

I don’t buy the selfishness theory. In a hold out you can put the blame either way. The player HAS A CONTRACT and should report or the billionaire could pay the player that’s over performing his contract. Not a single fan would want to be signed to a contract that paid them less than they were worth.

This whole thing comes down to guaranteed contracts. Every sport but the NFL has them, and if the other sport owners had their way they would follow the NFL model.

The NFL was just smart enough to know the downside to guaranteed contracts, and called the NFLPA's bluff.

With larger rosters, the NFL players have more players on the lower end of the spectrum that carry a large voice vs other sports that carry smaller rosters. This is a big reason why the league wins almost every time there is a dispute. As long as the NFL reigns, this isn't going to change.

Also, I will add, fans prefer non-guaranteed contracts. Unlike guaranteed contracts, teams can correct bad decisions and shortens the turn around time to being competitive. This is a big factor on why there is so much parity in the NFL. In the NBA, bad contracts can hold teams back 5-6 years. This leads to constant bottom dwellers, that hurt the sports' bottom lines.
