Canada

The US spends more on Healthcare (private and public) than all but one country.

But how does introducing for-profit insurance companies as a middle-man increase the cost of healthcare?

UK has the best system (Canada has a circle jerk following, but the quality of Canadian healthcare is shitty compared to the US). NHS is there for everyone, but you can still purchase private insurance in case you are paranoid about wait times for major surgeries.

Speaking of wait times, the US has longer wait times than all but just one country, Canada, when compared to other first-world countries.

60% of bankruptcies are caused by medical bills. System definitely isn't broken though.

The question isn't whether it's broken

The Canadian health system is fine for sniffles and splinters. Mexico great for getting some fillings or your teeth cleaned.

Virtually any kind of specialized care or surgery - they can just fuck the hell off. The US is miles ahead and you won't die waiting your turn.
Mexico is actually great for pharmaceuticals. You can walk in the store and get pretty much anything over the counter. At least that's what my uncle who lives there tells me.

I tried -that's a myth.

One of the smoking hot Latinas I used to work with (RIP the only job I ever liked) did in fact confirm that Mexico was cheaper for dental work. And the Dentist commuted there from Merica

Three slides from @UWhuskytskeet seal the deal here:

But Murica is UNIQUE and SPESHUL!

US is ranked 37th in overall care but first in expenditure. Healthscare is about 18% of GDP.

When you remove the expenses for those receiving free care and rerun the numbers, how do we rank?

I don't know, but Single Payer would save a lot of money and eliminate that problem.
You like to say that adding more bureaucracy to health care would make it cheaper. You do that.

Don't know if it's been posted yet as I'm catching up but here:http://data.worldbank.org/indicator/SH.XPD.TOTL.ZS/

The first four or five First World countries were all around 10-11.5%

anecdotal? sure, but, I never wait for medical care any more... ever. Appointments seldom require more than a minute wait after check in, waiting rooms seldom have more than 2-3 patients, buildings are brand new or nearly new, state of the art equipment, patient concierges to act as an intermediary coordinating care, assistants bring foo foo coffee, same day testing(inclucing MRI, EKG)... and results... healthcare for me and my family, has never been better,

It's stunning how efficient and effective US medical care has become... once the organization KNOWS they're getting paid... and paid well.
