This is also my best case at this point as well as the most likely.
I think there was a time where Russia was in legitimate danger of their front collapsing. Lest we forget the attempted Wagner coupe. Ukraine didn't have the resources or a guy named Patton to make hay though.
Russia could still manage a pyrrhic victory and end up taking Kiev. Even if they do, basically both sides have signed death warrants for the demographics of their respective national identies by now.

Russian AA incompetently shot down an incoming missile over beachgoers who decided to have a picnic in a war zone near Russian military targets, despite warnings. Fragments then suffered from the force of gravity. The missile didn't target or "strike" the beach in any form. Ukraine was not targeting sandcastles with ATCAMS.
