Critobal is a terrible recruiter. He recruits like a fucking teenager would recruit scouring the country for the most overrated 4-star kids he can find that don't have better committable offers better than Oregon. His talent evals consist of looking at 247 and star ratings. I'm not joking. Their staff cares deeply about star ratings and having it look like they're bringing in great talent to drive hype and momentum. The only problem is, on paper his team will look like it's more talented than ours, but in reality it's far from it so when he loses to UW and WSU and Stanford every year it's going to be a really bad look and will ultimately get him fired.

I was fine with Petersen's recruiting for the 2018 and 2019 classes because we actually had early recruiting momentum for those classes. We don't have any early momentum for this class which is fucking stupid. Great players want to play with great players. Social media has this generation trained to be followers. They all want to follow each other to whatever the hot school is at the time and as Petersen has always said, peer recruiting is just as important and sometimes more important than coach recruiting. We don't have any good peer recruiters committed.
UW should be the hot school out West on the trail right now. We have the most to sell and it's not even close. Petersen becoming even more conservative and pushing kids to take visits more than ever before is the fucking opposite of what we need right now. Recruiting momentum is real. We all know that. You can't ignore it just because you as a coach don't want to deal with another Asa Turner recruitment. The possibility of one or two kids getting wishy washy later is not worth sacrificing early momentum.
At the very least, in-state kids should not be forced to take other visits before committing to UW. That's fucking ridiculous. If an in-state kid knows he's coming here no matter what, don't make him waste his time visiting somewhere else. It just makes it look like we're slow playing him when we're not and it could be misinterpreted as he doesn't have a committable offer which has happened to us in the past when pushing top targets to "take more visits just to make sure" before committing to UW.

One could conclude that they dont really want early committments because then they have to put in extra effort to retain that committment. Asa Turner being the poster child of that concern. I'm not really saying our staff are lazy recruiters. Lazy would be harsh. Maybe businesslike would be more accurate. Unfortunately businesslike brings visions of old and white.
Your conclusion, though possibly accurate, makes me want to be that stick figure who pounds viciously on the keyboard until my fingers are bloody nubs spiraling downward from there until I’m limbless bleeding out.
