In addition to Washington, three other teams make claim to the 1960 National Championship, including: Mississippi, Minnesota[/b] and Iowa.

The 1961 Rose Bowl was the 47th Rose Bowl game, played on January 2, 1961, in Pasadena, California. The Washington Huskies defeated the top-ranked Minnesota Golden Gophers, 17–7[/b]. Washington quarterback Bob Schloredt returned from a mid-season injury was named the Player Of The Game for the second straight year.[2] As New Year's Day fell on a Sunday, the major bowl games were played on Monday.

This was the first season of the new agreement with the Athletic Association of Western Universities (AAWU) to send their champion. Its predecessor, the Pacific Coast Conference (PCC), had dissolved after the 1958 season. The Big Ten was no longer in a formal agreement with the Rose Bowl following the demise of the PCC:[3] Big Ten champion Minnesota received and accepted an "at-large" invitation.[/i]

Hope that helps

I am aware of all of the the above.

The AAWU consisted of five-teams, to wit: UCLA, USC, Stanford, California and Washington.

Unaware that the game vs. Minnesota was billed as a Natty . . .

So the only five programs that mattered back then.

Sounds like an improvement on the current dreck 12 to me.

You won a fake natty and hung it in your stadium 50 years after the fact.

You all knew it was stupid until you went retarded.

It was celebrated and hung in 2007.

Most of their opponents were Independents, i.e., (University of Pacific, Navy, Idaho, Oregon and Oregon State

We should swap UW with Montana

Imagine getting destroyed by trublue. Yeesh. Dark days on Montlake, indeed.

Imagine railing on UW when your school has to claim the title that Georgia won

Learn how to claim a natty then pop off

Not trying to destroy anybody . . .

Just the facts.

Claiming a 1960 Natty in 2007? Reeks of desperation.

Winless in 2008 . . . 0-12.

Karma.

The Oregon meme with Lanning in green as a National Champion is beyond pathetic.
