What are the thoughts on this kid? Sounds like UW may have him up this week to visit and he may get an offer.

I think his nickname should be "The Plodder".

His ceiling with this staff is probably decent, but he's a Turpin, not a Gaines.

USC, UCLA, ND, and Oregon disagree....

but

Malloe agrees. UW has not offered despite his recruitment "blowing up". I think they offer if Vita leaves.

I would not mind taking a Turpin next year, when we have more room. Not in this class though.

Ultimately it's one out of 85 scholarships and I think he will be a decent player. My perspective is more about getting guys that are like Marlon.

Marlon is basically a 5-star kid and Jay Tufele is similar. Pili is a 3-star kid and although I think he could be good for us (because we have great coaching), I think he's a true JAG anywhere else.

I won't be pissed if we take him. I just think I'd rather wait and try to get super big time kids like Marlon next year.
 
With Vita staying our DL is solid for next year. I think we should prioritize OL, IPM, then BUCK/SAM, and DB.
 
This is the kind of recruit we get when a new coach arrives and has 5 weeks to piece together a class.

Pili is the fattest and slowest guy on the field in his vids. He looks strong, but he'll never become a full-time starter at UW. He might make a better OG.
 
How the hell does he get so much press for being so average?

I also wondered why we dont offer him a greyshirt, and I do think he might be a better OG prospect than DT.

I'm not sure "press" is the right word. Pili holds offers from USC, Oregon, Notre Dame, and Ole Miss among others. Clearly there are coaches that really like him. It's not like his only offer is from Montana State and he's a media darling. The people on this bored don't like him, having watched a hudl video of him. Many out there disagree with that sentiment. Perdonally, I haven't watched shit, so I don't have an opinion on him outside of what our coaches think. They like him, but not enough to offer at this point.
