Yes. Low hanging fruit is this administrations preferred method of operation. Hiring Lake, promoting Gregory, keeping Hopkins, hiring the former assistant in baseball. “After a national search we decided that the answer was right in front of us the whole time!” I’ve got a bad feeling about this.

No, but we lived in a time when the Pac would occasionally have three top ten teams at years end and won 20/25 Rose Bowls. These aren’t those days.

We have a long history of wanting to be good. Cheating to be good and actually being good for long stretches.
Now that cheating is legal we have taken the high road and denounced the direction this is going, so yes Over the last few years. Nobody besides maybe our head coach has the desire and will to be good in the athletic dept. Even if he is good we won’t keep him as he will be poached. It’s who we are.
The direction of college football became obvious to Pete. He hated it and got out knowing someone that embraces that shit needed to run the program. Inexplicably after that, we double down on the approach of student athletes and have a disdain for players getting paid and how they game is played for big time football.
I hope either the dept is revamped, or we are relegated to the remedial league. I am fine with either because the current level of effort sucks.

Agreed. Get him away. He is not the problem though. It’s an athletic dept clinging to a guy that hated the way college football was going and had the awareness to get out before it was even more commercialized. People running the AD though don’t want to quit their high paying jobs.
Instead of our AD looking at it as an opportunity to take it to the next level, they cried and are zigging when everyone else is zagging. Part of this is because of the leadership above them doesn’t care, but I like to think a strong leader in the AD would have a big impact and could make it a big time product in the region.
Revamp the whole thing or just let it die.

A strong leader is someone who convinces upper campus that football might seem gross to them but it pays the fucking bills for everything else and delivers FREE PUB for the entire university.

Jen is more concerned with controlling spending and hides behind the “best Interest of our student athletes” while making nearly seven figures. It’s all a scam. She has no Interest in the success of the dept. if she did she would resign as she is not a fit for the landscape.

I don't recall Petersen complaining about being the highest paid coach in the Pac 12 when he quit and maintained an income from UW to advise on how to complete the elimination of the program

Jan 1, 2019 and the "shitty Rose Bowl" euphoria of that day seems like a lot longer than 3 years ago.
