BOOM - Vernon Adams To Oregon

Maybe it's just abundance, but I find it fascinating how some of you are more excited about a potential Oregon drop off than a potential rise in Husky football. Hate to break it to you, but even if Oregon flounders, Stanford is still better than you, and Kal (crazy I know) is improving, and not that far behind you. After that, there's 4 teams in the South that are better than UW. Oregon falling, would be sure nice for you to see, but unless you get your shit together, it's not going to help you one bit.

Having a realistic shot at beating Oregon is what gets people excited (because nothing else matters).

You Ducks are getting nervous because:

- Warshington is actually serious about football and has a good coach

- Kelly is gone and the replacement is coasting off of his success.

Peterman had a very mixed first year at UW. I guess the argument is that he kind of wrote off year one as rebuilding, but I don't understand the logic that goes into that.

I haven't seen any significant indicators of regression by Helfrich.

I watched the 2013 Arizona game pretty closely. That's a sign. That AZ QB with the MILF mom, Decker or Denker or whatever his name was was not skilled at passing (to his credit, Rodriguez developed him as much as he could and play called to hus strengths) and they still won big. There's no way in hell Kelly loses a game to a 7-5 team by that margin. IIRC, the Ducks were down about 21 to Stanfurd the same yr before making it interesting.

I think there are valid questions with Adams, but saying this means the Duck's have failed at QB development is wishful thinking. Lockie likely sucks. Mahallak is going to be a redshirt freshman coming off an injury and Waller will be a true freshman and is considered raw by the TBSers. Adams is a bridge guy for a team that wants to win another Pac 12 title instead of going through growing pains with a new QB. Great pick up for Oregon.

Adams is a good pickup, but I'm pretty sure he doesn't show up in Eugene until July, he still has to graduate from EWU. Oregon losses a bunch of OLs and defenders. I think they have 6 returners on both sides. I think they'll still be good, but 10-2 is their ceiling in my opinion with Losses @Sparty and @Stanford. I don't think this Duck team is good enough to simply blow the doors off of teams like ASU, SC or UW, either. Just looking at the talent I think this may be the weakest Duck team since some of Chip's earliest versions, especially on defense.

I think ASU, UCLA, AZ, and USC are huge threats to Oregon next year. My problem with Stanford is that now without Montgomery, they have absolutely nobody on the outside that can threaten teams. They also still lack the bruising tailback needed in their system, maybe a year from now it will be different, but I'm thinking of next year only. UW's offense isn't scaring anybody, Kal is still a year away from challenging the upper North, and WSU and OSU are still WSU and OSU. Oregon is making the PAC 12 title game next year, but the champ could definitely come from the South.

Disagree with your take on Stanford. Cajuste and Rector are pretty good. This incoming white WR Trent Irwin is going to be a pain in everyone's ass - watch. BSRYK. I also think Ed McCaffery's son is going to be all-conf level RB at Stanford. He's got size and quickness. Moreover I really like the RB they got out of Portland. He's the biggest RB they've had since Toby Gerhart.

Stanford will be good again this year.

For whatever reason, Stanford played much better on offense after Montgomery was hurt. McCaffrey is going to be a stud. As you mentioned Cajuste and Rector are pretty good. Hooper the TE is good and they have a back up who is huge. Offensively, Stanford will be a lot better next year. They have lost a lot on defense the past two years though.

Eh, I watched that game as well as the follow-up loss this season. And yeah, I was pretty pissed off both times. Helfrich fixed the problem, and I think if a new HC loses a game he shouldn't, that happens. Think Peterman with Stanford or Arizona this past year.
 
Yep. Hogan was playing like shit for most of the year but he really stepped up late. Their OL was also overhauled and took some time to gell, or at least that's an explanation that came from their staff. And I think David Shaw stopped doing David Shaw things (punting on the 37, wildcat, etc etc). I thought my Broons were really playing well down the stretch with some dominating performances against ranked teams on both sides of the ball and Stanford still beat the snot out of them in the middle of that stretch.
 
I think Hogan is pretty good and is going to have a breakout season. He almost went pro and would have been drafted. Their O-line is loaded with studs who took a minute to gel, but once that got going Hogan really started to make plays with his arm and legs.

I know it's cliche to make comparisons based on the same school, but his game is Andrew Luck lite. Also Mccaffery is good and will shred the second level now that their OL is about to maul every pac's front 7.

Questions on D, yes, but they are the favorite to win the north IMO. If they don't it's because Shaw loses to Petey bc he loves to lose to Washington for zero reason.

Look at Oregon's RB/WR depth for next year. They don't need a QB who can win them games. They needed a QB who can get the ball to playmakers in space without fucking up in embarrassing fashion (hi Jeff Lockie!). They got that guy in Adams.

Best part is, this poast is completely accurate because UO probably still beats UW and the Cuogs without Adams, and probably finishes with better overall record as well.
