Book recommendations?

Have you read this @PurpleThrobber yet? Got it for my dad last year...

That looks chinteresting...

There are too many good books to read. I used to be a voracious reader and then tech, hi fi and kids...

Maybe I should be like you and just starting listening to them in the car.

Wallace, ID is a funny little town if you're ever driving I-90. For decades it was the only remaining stop light on I-90 between Seattle and Boston. Up until about the mid-90's, brothels still openly operated with relatively immunity to prosecution. Uber wealthy guy named Harry Magnuson headquartered in Wallace - at one time the largest private land owner in the country.

There's a ski resort (Silver Mountain) about 5 miles down the road in Kellogg, ID. If one were so inclined, one would purchase either a condo or home there. Still pretty affordable and a kick ass ski hill with solid snow. Gondola runs straight from the parking lot on the freeway up to the lodge at the top of the hill. Hasn't been Aspened/Sun Valley'd yet.

Solid elk hunting as well. Worked a couple years about 30 miles north for the Forest service at Shoshone Camp. The North fork of the Cda isn't bad for little cutthroat trout either!

The Wheel of Time is the best fantasy series I’ve ever read. Buckle up, it’s long. Amazon TV series is beginning production this month.

The Silmarillion. Read it in advance of the new LoTR/Tolkien series Amazon is making.

Just finished The War on Normal People by Andrew Yang. Can’t recommend it enough.

First Law trilogy[/b] is on the shelf tanned ready and rested.

Currently reading Fire and Blood cuz I’m a sucker for them dragons.

Been on a real nerd bender lately...

So good. You'll love it.

Are we still talking books or is this about the natural beef soft taco at Taco Time?

Finished this one a couple days ago, Raven Rock.

Completely my wheelhouse so I loved it. It does have much to say, between the lines, about the impact nuclear weapons have on our politics.

Jess Walter has some good reads:

The Financial Lives of the Poets[/b], Citizen Vince, Ruby Ridge

I’ve been on a Russian history kick lately - very readable and helps one understand how the country got to have an autocrat like Putin:

TL;DR, "Russians are the most fucked up white people on the planet."

Pretty much...but it’s the most fascinating train wreck of a dynasty. It’s also interesting seeing how the politics were influenced by the Russian Orthodox Church.

The Last Tsar on Netflix is pretty solid.

I'm assuming this is a cataclysmic read.

I may have thrown this out before, but deserves second if so.

Meticulous research.

Great fucking book. Also recommend this:

Red Platoon is the story of the final battle at COP Keating and the 2 books should be read together. 1 of the 2 Medal of Honor winners ended up at Fort Lewis around 2010.

When I was 12 years old I helped by Dad build a bunker in our backyard because @creepycoug let the Ruskies put missiles in Cuber.

Read this years ago by the Colonel in charge of reverse engineering Roswell tech. Even more plausible today. We sure had a leap the last half of the 20th century. Confirmation bias? I think we will be told aliens are real soon. We are being groomed for it

Cmdr David Fravor (Tic Tac) and Bob Lazar (Rozwell) have revisited some pretty compelling content within the last year or so

I read this a few years ago and thought it was pretty good as far as government conspiracies are concerned. Supposedly the author committed suicide by shooting himself in the head multiple times...don’t know if there’s any truth to it, but it made me want to read the book.

It's about a newspaper reporter in Spokane experiencing financial troubles so he starts selling weed to make a dent in things.

Not coincidentally, Jess Walter was a reporter in Spokane at one time.

His book on Ruby Ridge (non-fiction) is really good.

If you like Sherman Alexie, Jess Walter has a similar style. Except he's not an @swaye rez boi.
