Bo Nix eyeing national championship after 'easy transition’ to Oregon

Bo Nix and Oregon opened the 2022 season against Georgia. Nix, of course, came into the game very familiar with the Bulldogs, having played against them at Auburn. So was Ducks head coach Dan Lanning, who served as Georgia’s defensive coordinator for several years before taking the top job in Eugene.
Of course, the game ended in a 49-3 romp for the Dawgs at Mercedes-Benz Stadium in Atlanta. Nix completed 21 of his 37 passes for just 173 yards, throwing 2 interceptions and 0 touchdowns. That dropped him to 0-4 all-time against Georgia.[/b]
Oregon hasn’t lost a game since then and is currently 6-1 while ranked No. 8 in the country. It could still find itself in the College Football Playoff conversation if it can run the table (which may be asking too much of a Pac-12 team, for what it’s worth) and get some help. Nix, for his part, has emerged as one of the top quarterbacks in the country, throwing 17 touchdowns versus just 3 picks.
But what if the Ducks and Bulldogs met again? Nix brought up that hypothetical scenario in an interview with CBS Sports’ Dennis Dodd:
“f we played them again tomorrow, the game would be completely different, and everybody knows that.”
Wait, that requires a follow up. Do you believe Oregon would beat Georgia today?
“I do,” the senior said. “From the first game of the season, a lot of teams get so much better.”
A 1 vs. 4 Playoff matchup certainly isn’t out of the question if Georgia holds up its end of the bargain and Oregon can manage to break the Pac-12 curse and find a way in.
If, and only if that happens, Nix’s sole purpose will be to turn the tables and knock what would be a heavily favored Bulldogs team out of the semifinal. Whether he actually ends up doing it is a totally different question.

This is the year. Bo Nix has improved so much under this new offense. He’s focused. He’s having fun. I wouldn’t be surprised if he’s a dark horse for the Heisman.
