It's how they made it into Yellowstone Lake. There were other routes that got them into the Missouri system and Yellowstone downstream of the lake, namely the Clark Fork basin. Don't ask me how...glaciers and shit.
Couldn't they accidently get over Yellowstone Falls too by accident? I know they beat the Rainbows up the Snake before Twin Falls blocks passage and what not but that's upstream migration.

I fucking love cutthroat fishing @chuck ! I like my trout dumb as fuck.

I think what I've gathered is that they were in the Missouri system and lower Yellowstone before the lake. I'm not positive. It's a pretty cool puzzle.

I get why people like rainbows but I favor cutts too for their willingness and their colors. Also they are the rightful co-owners of the Rockies, along with your favorite the MTN whitefish.

I know they are native fish and I've told more than a few clients when I was entry level fly fishing guide. But fuck I hate Whitefish. I've had so many days where I've had to run nymphs on the bottom of beautiful trout stream and those sucker mouthed, vacuum cleaner SOB's ruin everything. I've even @chuck ed one or two into the bushes in a fit youthful rage which is something I'm not proud of.

They apparently aren't bad to eat. They're closest relatives are grayling, which are considered great table fare.

I only caught a handful of whitefish on the south fork. They might've annoyed me too if I got more of them than cutts, but it wasn't even close. The whitefish were small there too. They are bigger than any trout here in the home waters.

Flyfishing guide? Where did you guide? I guided on the San Juan when I was in college.

Bruh, no man among us has caught more trout with the San Juan worm than old Yella. Also, one of the only flies (it's the easiest) that I could tie well.

Since I'm mostly nice to faggot Duck fans I'd slide up into your DMs.

This is an appropriate thread to bring up one of the best subgenres ever created, fucking ever: HP Lovecraftian Noire/horror.

They don't make enough of it (The Lighthouse) and when they do they mix in cringe shit like space-horror/sci fi which is stupid. Every Lovecraft premise needs to be post WWI American East Coast fishing shitholes only. The Sunken City is a shit boring game after awhile but it completely captures what I'm talking about: make a movie out of the basic premise of that game and you've got a fucking hit imo.

Figures that you hate Whitefish. I have relatives from my mom's side that still reside (near) there.
