Was watching "Becoming Led Zeppelin" on the plane ride to London last month. I give it 2 thumbs up. It occurred to be that I don't think I've done a polling series of each artist's best album.

I could move Presence up two spots rather easily. I wasn't slagging it by putting it where I did though. I like all of them.II
III
Graffiti
Presence often gets slagged, but it has some bangers for me
I keep coming back to III year after year. Their best overall blend of bangers and folk. Immigrant Song and Gallows Pole can’t be topped.IV
Physical Graffiti

Houses Of the Holy

Presence
In Through the Out Door
I used to love III, but now skip a couple of tracks.
I just meant in general, over the years it seems like that when LZ is discussed, Presence is rarely if ever in the convo…I could move Presence up two spots rather easily. I wasn't slagging it by putting it where I did though. I like all of them.II

I knew what you meant. When I listen to 1 I always have a few moments where I think it's my favorite. Communication Breakdown doesn't get that many mentions but I think it's one of their best songs. The intro and transition into the opening riff on How Many More Times is probably my favorite section of any LZ song. It's pretty badasa when it transions back to that riff too.Changing my vote to 1.
My favorite three consecutive track segment on any of their albums is Babe I'm Gonna Leave You, You Shook Me, and Dazed and Confused.
Dazed and Confused is my favorite Zeppelin track of all time. Killer vocals, manic drums, and some great lines (soul of a woman was created below").
Plenty of shredding on 1, some great blues stuff, and none of their folksy stuff that I really do not enjoy.
That was a good documentary. One of the more interesting origin stories in rock group history. It would be analogous to some guys in the wrecking crew going on the form the greatest hard rock group of all time. People forget Page and John Paul Jones were session men on the Goldfinger theme song in 1964.I can't pick but that is a great movie. Gave me a new respect for 11111 that I had forgotten
It was unique and shocking and rocking Jerry
Not so fast my fren. Zep 1 not "folksy" ? Christ.Changing my vote to 1.

Babe I'm Gonna Leave you is a folk rock song written by Anne Bredon in the late 1950s. Joan Baez made it famous the Zep take is half folk and half proto heavy metal.
Dazed and Confused was a folk song written and recorded in 1967 by Jake Holmes.
Black Mountain Side is traditional British Isles folk music.
Babe I'm Going to Leave You is totally played like folk for 50% of the song. It's took the hybridization of folk and rock to new heights but it's still a folk based song. The way they're played is not folk rock, fren. Not so fast my fren. Zep 1 not "folksy" ? Christ.Changing my vote to 1.

Black Mountain Side is a skip for me, every tim.
I think folk is a lot more diverse that what you're thinking. Beatles, Zep, Neil Young, Stones, etc, were all heavy on folk influences and playing "folk-rock" on well known tracks.Histrionics aside, nobody who listens to Dazed and Confused is saying "cool folk rock song."
If Zeppelin had covered a Beethoven song it wouldn't be considered Classical.
Maybe my definition of folk is different than yours or what would be commonly accepted. You tell me "folk" and I hear Peter, Paul, and Mary or John Denver.
I think the I through Physical Graffiti run is the best 6 album run in the history of rock. There's little or no filler on any of those album. Nearly every track is essential. The only comp I can think of would be Beatles Rubber Soul through Abbey Road if you include Magical Mystery Tour. And all of those albums - while being GOATs - still had a fair number of songs that one can skip over.Best: Physical Graffiti
Favorite: Houses of the Holy
Least: Presence
Soft spot for: In Through the Out Door
