We're talking about the exact same second quarter I told you was going to look good months ago, Grandpa. I notice you don't want to mention that GDP shrank in the first quarter.
Third quarter GDP might stay above 2%, if affluent Americans keep spending and businesses at least retain their workforces. I wouldn't bet on it though. Non-affluent Americans have basically cut spending, and no significant amount of new hiring is happening.
For the entire year, we'll be fortunate if GDP growth was 1.7% or better.
We're in a two-speed economy. The haves are propping it up, for now. Most people are tightening their belts.
