Austin Joyner's Position

Is he really going to end up playing CB? I watched him against Bellevue and he looked like an RB or Safety to me...he could be a bigger and faster Sean Parker playing at 5'10" 205 lbs after a RS year.

Personally, I don't think he is a corner, his frame is so big that it is hard to imagine him playing there. If he can perform there that would be awesome. I think he will be a safety playing alongside Buttah. If I had it my way he would play RB though and be really awesome at it. Regardless, really good player.

I *heart* guys who could play offense but want to play defense.

I'm not sure where Joyner ends up defensively, but I know I'm going to like him.

Probably strong safety, with Budda at FS, Jones at CB1 and ??? at CB2.

I'm curious how he competes against Turner. I think either one is destined to overtake that position from King/Beaver/Walker.

I'm thinking wherever Kevin King was playing would make for a nice landing spot.

Yeah at the first fall practice, Pete should pull him aside and say "See that long-ass necked guy over there. That's one of the turds that old coach left me. Your job is to take his position."

I picture a scene from The Program where Zeke Turner says " Zeke Turner safety" Kevin king says " Kevin king starting safety" Zeke Turner responds " I know that's why they recruited me".

Uh, Sidney Jones MMXIV has a 'safety body'. Budda has a corner's body. I think things are changing a little bit with the body types people are looking for.

Austin wants to play corner, so my guess is they'll start him there.

People may not have heard this, but Richard Sherman doesn't have the prototypical body for a cornerback. Just putting that out there.

I don't think King has the balls to say that.

Hard to see him sticking his neck out like that

He won't get ahead with brash statements like that.

Not likely. Kelly was just a RS-Frosh in 2014 and broke his ankle early so he missed pretty much the whole year.

He was at least the #2 or #3 on the team and if he's fully recovered by spring ball, he should compete for a starting spot again.

And not that they are the end-all be-all TBS authority, but he was the #20 rated recruit in the country by Rivals with a good offer sheet:

Also don't sleep on Jermaine Kelly

Am I being whooshed...I hope so
