Yep - you can't win big in the PAC without high caliber QB play (and high caliber can also be a high quality game manager - see Hogan, Kevin).
I think Petersen's fine with another .500 caliber conference season this year because most objective people realize that this is a transition year. But he can't repeat Seven's yearly 5-4 path and not walk the plank.
Hogan isn't bad. Stanford's offense isn't built for putting up monster stats. He can also run a little bit an pick up first downs.
